Information about Weilimdorf

Wappen Weilimdorf

Even if Weilimdorf was first named officially in 1243, its settlement dates back several thousand years. The fruitful farmland provided the basis for the early peasant and vineyard village. The coat of arms of Weilimdorf shows the church in the middle of the village and pays homage to the more than 500 year long connection with the University of Tübingen.

The change from peasant village to industry location happened in the 20th century. Since 1926, Weilimdorf is connected with Feuerbach through the tramway. In 1929 – after overwhelming affirmation from the population - the voluntary fusion with the then independent city of Feuerbach occurred. On 1st May 1933 Feuerbach-Weilimdorf was suburbanised into the city of Stuttgart. In the post-war period, the quarters of Bergheim, Hausen and Giebel were founded. Today the district offers a high level of housing and leisure quality and, with a modern industrial park, it is the site for international enterprises and service businesses. A particularly cultural monument is the Solitude street. This direct connection between Schloss Solitude and Schloss Ludwigsburg makes up the basis of the land surveying office in Württemberg. Since the year 2000, the first wind energy system stands on the Grünen Heiner in the federal capital Stuttgart. Private links about Weilimdorf.
