It’s booming – the Stuttgart of the future. Hard on the city’s wallet will above all be project “Stuttgart 21”, the conversion of the main train station which will cost several billion Euros. It will create an underground through station, an important stop on the European route from Paris to Budapest. On top, on the old tracks, a new city quarter will be built with offices, flats and shops.

From early 2006, Mercedes will present the new museum: As the largest automobile museum worldwide with exhibits of a brand, it will attract over 700,000 visitors a year.

Europe’s largest building site is on the Fildern: The new  exhibition and trade show site is taking shape. Seven halls, a vertical hall and a congress centre for around 800 million Euros are planned until 2007.

The new Galerie der Stadt Stuttgart, the new art house, is now up and running and is fast becoming a crowd puller. Modern art treasures in a glass cube.

The Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion is being fitted for the World Cup, right next to it a brand new large sports hall is being built.
