Sillenbuch is first mentioned in a document from 1264. Already back then the great Buchenwald forest in the rather small district on the Fildern must have been so remarkably large, that it was integrated into the location name. And even today the area of Sillenbuch consists of almost a third of forest which attracts many “city slickers” out here for recreation. For those who want to enjoy this nature idyll for more than an afternoon, there are several modern new development settlements available. Like in Sillenbuch, agriculture is and has been of importance, just like in Heumaden. It is mainly fruit, agriculture and wine growing that people live off. Today you can enjoy the scenic charms in a terraced settlement. The suburbanisation of Sillenbuch took place on the 1st of April, 1937. The district Riedenberg has only belonged to Sillenbuch since 1946 and was part of Birkach before that. And this place has a lot to offer also; large parts of the recreational and nature reserve area Eichenhain are on the Riedenberger borders.
