Information about Obertürkheim

Wappen Obertürkheim

Obertürkheim, first mentioned in 1251, is a favourite recreational area because of its attractive location between the Ailenberg, the Kirchberg and the Uhlbacher Kessel with passage into the Schurwald. Suburbanisation was on the 1st April 1922. But not only the rural charm attracts visitors. Early on, many monasteries recognised the special quality of the Obertürkheimer wine, especially from the area of the district of Uhlbach. Even today, many families grow wine and manage their own small pub in Uhlbach. The wine growing museum, in a wine cellar in Uhlbach, shows the long history of the juice of the grape. The town hall of Obertürkheim, built in classic-antique style is also worth a visit, as well as a Gothic chapel from the 15th century. The first mention of the Petruskirche is probably from 1285. It was reconstructed several times in the 15th and 18th century. The industrialisation of Neckartal, meant a decrease in population in Obertürkheim, but various renovation measures since the 80s stopped this migration. Today, Obertürkheim is a popular residential area, not least because of the ideal combination between rural idyll and the proximity to the city centre. Private links about Obertürkheim.
